The Home Chore Program

This program is designed to assist those needing help with everyday household tasks, allowing them to maintain independence and live comfortably in their own homes. Serving Madison's older adults for over 40 years, the program has made a lasting impact, helping countless individuals stay safe and supported in their own spaces. By volunteering, you provide invaluable support that enhances the quality of life for our clients, fostering a sense of community and connection. Additionally, the relationships that develop between volunteers and their older adult matches are deeply rewarding, often growing into meaningful friendships that enrich both lives.

  • As a Home Chore Program volunteer, you’ll assist with cleaning, organizing, yard work, and minor home repairs, small tasks that make a big difference for older adults facing physical challenges.

  • You can volunteer individually or with a group, choosing a schedule that works for you while helping seniors maintain a safe and comfortable home.

  • Beyond practical help, this experience fosters meaningful connections, allowing you to meet diverse individuals, hear their stories, and become a trusted presence in their lives.

Snow Angels

Snow Angels is a volunteer-driven program dedicated to helping older adults stay safe during the winter by clearing snow from their driveways and sidewalks. By lending a hand, volunteers ensure that seniors can navigate their homes safely, reducing the risk of falls and isolation during the colder months.

  • Shoveling snow may seem like a simple task, but for older adults, it’s essential for maintaining independence and safety.

  • Whether you commit to one home or take on multiple driveways, you can volunteer on your schedule while making a meaningful difference in your neighborhood.

  • Volunteering as a Snow Angel fosters connections, helping older adults feel supported and engaged in their community, even during the coldest months.

This program fosters meaningful connections, providing companionship, conversation, and a sense of community for older adults who may feel lonely or disconnected.

  • As a Bridge Buddies volunteer, you’ll provide in-person companionship to older adults through friendly visits, engaging conversations, and shared activities.

  • Visits take place in the older adult’s home or a community space, offering a flexible way to brighten someone’s day while fitting into your schedule.

  • Beyond reducing isolation, Bridge Buddies fosters meaningful relationships, ensuring older adults feel connected, valued, and supported in their community.

Food Bridge

Food Bridge is a volunteer program that delivers food pantry items from partnered food pantries to older adults in Madison. By ensuring regular access to nutritious food, the program supports older adults in maintaining their health and well-being.

  • Volunteers are paired with older adults in Madison who need help with food deliveries, based on proximity and availability.

  • Volunteers deliver food pantry items from various food pantry locations1-4 times a month, fitting around their schedules.

  • Each delivery includes a personal visit, which builds relationships and provides social interaction. This enriches the lives of both volunteers and older adults!

Group Volunteering

The Benefits of Volunteering as a Team https://www.teambonding.com/benefits-volunteering-team/

1. You’ll gain a huge sense of achievement as a group.
You’ve bonded with your coworkers over drinks or at parties, but have you ever bonded over working towards a goal together? Team volunteering allows members of your group to work together in ways that they may never have expected to be able to. Sure, you may work together in the office, but have you ever worked together cooking food to serve at a homeless shelter or building bikes to donate to children who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford one? This type of bonding is unlike other team building that you’ve done before – you’ll grow together as a group and on a personal level, you’ll gain self esteem and self worth.

2. You’ll work towards your company’s policy for Corporate Social Responsibility.
Odds are, your company has a policy or a quota for yearly Corporate Social Responsibility actions. Employee engagement surrounding CSR is on the rise, and there are so many different ways that your company can devote time to a cause while making it into a bonding event as well. CSR not only evokes the great feeling you get from volunteering and spreading love to others, but it also sets a high standard for your company.

3. You’ll partake in something memorable that couldn’t be done by sitting in a conference room.
What a great reason to get up from your desk and get out of the office! By planning a service day, you and your team could have the opportunity to take a day outside of the office helping others and creating memorable experiences together. You think your best memories at work were times that you sat around the office with coworkers going out your daily routines? Probably not. You’ll have the chance to network and meet new people in your company in the process, too.
