"My favorite place to walk on a nice day is around our Capitol and see whatever seasonal flowers are in bloom. So when I had an opportunity to paint something dear to my heart, I knew exactly what to paint. I had liked my art classes when I was young, so when I retired, I saw Artful Aging as a great opportunity. I was able to try a variety of different mediums: acrylics, charcoal, watercolors, cray-pas and more. I learned helpful techniques from my instructor. I enjoyed painting with fellow students, and we shared a lot of laughs as we all worked on our artwork together. I feel that I have gained confidence and am more willing to try new things. I still spend many hours at my home creating little pieces of art as I play with color, materials and techniques"

Artful Aging re-awakened my favorite form of creative expression – visual artwork. Being in a group of my peers exploring, drawing and painting was such a refreshing delight. Our teacher was great. She facilitated our learning process. I had fun!

“I took the course when I was 70yo and finally ready to try exploring a creative outlet I had not tried before.. because it sounded very non critical or judgmental… open to all. I have had a long history of UW and MATC degrees and with them all my last job before I retired was teaching “ethics in Medicine” at MATC….I love going to Warner and love seeing the annual crane family there…After the second of these art classes, I felt brave enough to try and draw them…they were there and were my real life models.. I was quite proud because my drawing actually looked like cranes, a major accomplishment…I only give this drawing to the auction because I am lucky to have burned a permanent picture of them in my brain so I can give this up”
