Hello Community Partners and Supporters,
As the Coronavirus (COVID 19) continues to spread across the U.S., NewBridge is taking the appropriate steps to respond to this public health emergency.
Our number one priority is the health of our staff, volunteers, and of course our clients and participants who have been hit the hardest by this virus. We are taking extra precautions to protect our most vulnerable populations.
Our management team is assessing the situation daily and following all recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO), U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Wisconsin Department of Health Services, UW Health and Public Health Madison & Dane County.
As of Friday, March 13, we have made some alterations to our provided services.
Case Management: NewBridge case managers will be conducting appointments with clients by phone or email. If a home visit is absolutely necessary, our case managers will take the appropriate health safety measures before going into the home.
Home Chore: NewBridge volunteers will not be doing chores inside older adults’ homes until further notice. Volunteers may continue necessary outdoor chores (snow removal, garbage cans, etc.)
Nutrition Sites: All of the NewBridge congregate nutrition sites remain open at this time. The Goodman Community Center will be suspending congregate meals until further notice, beginning Monday, March 16. The congregate sites that are open will start offering a take-out option starting Monday, March 16. Those not currently receiving a home delivered meal but have an underlying health condition are being directed to Sarah at the SSM Health meals on wheels (608) 276-7598.
Food Bridge: Our food pantry delivery program will continue for current older adults as long as we are able. We will also try to accommodate additional older adults dependent on volunteer availability.
Older Adult Activities and Cultural Diversity Activities: Most activities are suspended for at least two weeks until March 29 when the situation will be re-evaluated. We will post an update on the status of these programs the week of March 23.
Volunteer Guardian/Representative Payee: Volunteer services will be limited to only necessary and/or end of life situations and follow the same guidelines as case management.
The NewBridge office remains open to the public at this time. If we receive a directive to close the congregate meal sites, our offices would then be closed to the public, but staff would still be working and providing essential services like case management and arranging food services as best as we can. We also are prepared to work from home if we are mandated to a lock down.
Our general phone message and our website newbridgemadison.org will be updated with major changes. Our Facebook page is updated several times per day with all changes. facebook.com/NewBridgeMadison. You may also call our office (608) 512-0000. We are open Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.
We are in this together and NewBridge is here and prepared to help!
